If there is one thing that every birder
anywhere in the world shares with every other birder anywhere in the
world, it has to be their thirst of knowledge into the birding world. We all
want to become better birders and better conservationists. That is exactly what
the Education division of Bird Country US is all about.
Backed by nearly 20 years experience presenting educational programs
on birds and bird conservation, our education efforts focus on birding events,
workshops and the new One Bird At A Time series of the life histories of birds.
We hold two excellent birding events each year. Eagle Watch Weekend has been copied by many other organizations and agencies, but none have been able to match the mix of expert birders and eagles like the ones we have at the birdwatching capital of Indiana - beautiful Lake Monroe. If eagles are of particular interest to you, be sure to visit eaglesatlakemonroe.com, the official website of Eagle Watch Weekend. You'll learn a great deal about both Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles and be better prepared to join us at next year's event.
Our newest event, the Hill Country Warbler Fest strives to bring you top experts in the birding world from around country. If you want to learn about birds, this is THE event to attend. The 2010 event featured the "Dean of Birdsong," Don Kroodsma (Singing Life of Birds). Joining Don was birdsong recordist Geoffrey Keller who has authored six birdsong CDs, including his latest, Birdsongs of the Brown County Hill Country. Geoff Keller has more than 3,000 recordings archived at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This is just a small example of the quality event that awaits you at the Hill Country Warbler Fest next spring. It is destined to become the Midwest's # 1 event celebrating the warblers of our eastern deciduous forests.
We also offer our
Feathered Fundamentals Workshop. We hold this
eight-hour class a couple of times each year near our home base in southern
Indiana. But so many folks from points across the country have expressed such an
interest in the workshop
that we are now putting it together on a CD so anyone can take the course no matter where
they live.
